Pursuant to the provisions in Clause 3.1 (a) of the Constitution, the meaning of ‘Sri Lankan Quantity Surveyors’ shall be further expanded as follows;
‘A person who is a Sri Lankan citizen having a valid, authentic educational/academic qualification/s at graduate/post graduate degree, diploma, certificate or equal qualification from a recognized educational/academic or professional institution in Sri Lanka or from any other country in a field related to Quantity Surveying’.
The following table explains the Selection Criteria succinctly in terms of ‘Academic Qualification’ and ‘Employment’;

The following new sub Clause shall be added to Clause 12:
Newly elected member shall initially pass a minimum of three (3) month period in order to be eligible for participating in selected a Major Events involving competitions organized by SLQS Qatar. Present classification of selected ‘Major Events’ includes; 1) Annual Cricket Tournament, and 2) Annual Bowling Tournament. Any revisions to the above classification shall be adopted at an AGM, SGM or by the Membership Panel (MP).
The existing members who are proposing and seconding the new member shall be held fully liable to the accuracy of the given information in the new member application form especially with regard to the academic qualification/s and employment details. If the prospective member is later found to be not eligible for the membership due to submission of fraudulent documents/details, the membership of the proposing and seconding members shall be suspended for a period of not more than three (3) months at the discretion of the Membership Panel.
A panel consisting of three (3) senior/suitable Members (preferably from former Office-bearers) shall be selected from the General Membership at the AGM or SGM (or by the General Executive Committee in the event of any Membership Panel member resigning or leaving Qatar during the term) with a mandate to look into any Membership related issues as and when required. The Membership Panel shall have the authority to request any pertinent document as proof of eligibility of Membership should the requirement arises. The decision given by the Membership Panel in any such case shall be final and binding and shall be immediately implemented without having any further recourse.
The new criteria shall NOT be retrospectively applied to the existing Membership. Notwithstanding, should there be any proper onymous complaint forthcoming from an existing Member regarding the eligibility of any existing Member/s, the same shall be investigated and a decision shall be taken by the Membership Panel which is final and binding on the concerned Member/s. The period for bringing in such complaint is limited to three (3) months from the date of new memberships issuance/notification as per Clause 3.5 of the Constitution.
Notwithstanding, the membership panel at its discretion is empowered to investigate and take suitable action/s in case any serious abuses of trust is brought to its notice at any time. However, it is clearly discouraged raising any such issues after the above allocated period.
